Professor Wilhelm Schabel studied process engineering and received his doctor (with distinction) in thermal process engineering in the field of film drying and was honored with the Carl-Freudenberg Award for best Phd by the University. In 2007, he worked as R&D engineer at LONZA Foils in Basel and Taiwan. In 2007 he was honored with the Arnold-Eucken Award by VDI /Germany, which is considered to be the highest ranked award for young Chemical Engineers in Germany. In 2008 he was honored with the L. E. Scriven Award in the US by the International Society of Coating Science & Technology (ISCST) for his works on thins films. Prof. Schabel is engaged in significant national and international committees, he is the Vice President European Coating Society and Chairman of ECS 2009 and ECS 2019. 2012 he was honored with a DOCTOR HONORIS CAUSA, In 2015 with the NEULAND Innovation Award for a patent in battery technology and in 2021 with an EDWARDS Fellowship from University Cambridge as a guest Professor and a research stay at Gonville & Cauis College. The research of him and his group has been honored so far with more than 30 research awards on national and international conferences.
