TFT at EUROMAT 2025 in Granada
From September 14-18, the latest developments in materials research and process technology were presented at the 18th European Congress and Exhibition on Advanced Materials and Processes (EUROMAT) in Granada. The Thin Film Technology group was represented with a contribution on thermal treatment in battery cell recycling. Current results and planned investigations were discussed in an exchange with scientists from various research institutions in Europe.
Contribution from TFT
"Thermal drying of electrolyte solvents for safe and efficient battery recycling" (Poster) L. Lödige, J. Dörr, P. Scharfer, W. Schabel
The poster by presented the research activities of the TFT group on the thermal drying of end-of-life battery cells. It shows how the release kinetics of volatile electrolyte components depend on the material and process, and how the drying step can be intensified by optimizing process conditions. Effective removal of these volatile substances is crucial for the safety and efficiency of dry recycling process chains.
